#hallmark #a biltmore christmas #time travel #WHERE IS MY POST-CREDITS SCENE SHOWING HOW MARGARET REACTS???#she was one of the best parts of the movie!#you need at least five minutes of her screaming for joy!#also clearly there was a conspiracy of people in the past who knew about the time travel thing so how did that work?#what about that bearded guy on the crew who was CLEARLY another time traveler?#(there is no way that facial hair came from 1947)#also where does the relationship go from there?#how do you adjust?#does tour guide riker help out?#so many unanswered questions can fit into the last scenes of that film and i need answers #also just overall: thanks to people who said this one was worth seeking out because my goodness what a delight #that movie oozed charm #i think maybe my true core fictional love is classic '30s/'40s film because i was digging that vibe #the banter! the patter! the zingers! the perfect blend of cynicism and sentimentality #some of the background stuff was too modern but also some was spot on #that guy who played claude looks like he was born to be a classic Hollywood film star #the leading lady did not fit the vibe at all but she had great chemistry with the movie's leads so i can see why they cast her #the old-timey writer dude was charming #the main lady might be a new favorite hallmark actress (there's only one other on the list)#(watched part of a different film with her in it and she seems to put some of that classic hollywood sass into her roles)#i wasn't sold on the male lead at first but the writing came through for him #when he sits in the chair behind her! when he's trying to guess her personality traits?#charming and absolutely spot-on for the vibe #(the fact that they cast hallmark regulars in the remake is hilarious and also sad because it looks so much worse than the original)#anyway great time had a blast will definitely be rewatching

You’re not making it to make money, you’re making it for you

No one can tell you you’re writing fanfic wrong

If you want to write wildly inaccurate fanfic, do it

If someone has a problem with it, they don’t have to read, they can find something else to read, or even better, write what they want to read instead of bothering others about it

If anyone tries to tell you otherwise, then they just want to start arguments and you should ignore them

Where’s that post that’s like “somewhere along the way ‘fanfiction can be as good as published writing’ became ‘fanfiction should be as good as published writing’ and fandom as a whole has suffered since”? Because that’s essentially what I’m trying to say

#this is in response to somebody taking my tags on another post and trying to start an argument #so I made my own post to not detract from the original post #which was not about fanfic and more about like professional writing #yes if you’re writing professionally you should do research to be respectful to what you’re writing about #but fanfic is different and doesn’t have to be accurate #it doesn’t have to make sense #and I am specifically not tagging the person because I don’t want to get into an argument #so if they do see this: I do agree with all of your points when referring to professional writing like Hallmark movies or published books #I just don’t believe that the same standard should be applied to fanfic #please nobody start arguments on this post

They both have a heart to heart and remember about that one memorable time when Shen Jiu threw hot coffee on Luo Binghe's head and had to face disciplinary action. They both have nasty gay sex at the bathroom about it and end up remembering why they both hate Christmas. #for all that i have some beefs with george lucas i DO think that the uhhhhhh decline of star wars in the disney era #(this is not universal and mostly in reference to the latest trilogy and some of the shows)#is due to a loss of message #the reason rogue one and andor are the BEST examples of new star wars is that they are #like the original trilogy and the prequel trilogy #EXPLICITLY antifascist #the original trilogy was made in a time when the echoes of WW2 were much louder and more recent #and the prequels when a lot of the same problems were beginning to stir in american politics #and it makes me fuckin insane because TFA was a GOOD movie!! people criticized it for being too much like #a new hope but like that was FINE for fuck's sake there's nothing wrong with recycling a narrative #as long as you make it new and interesting #but to then come back post 2016 with TLJ??? the milquetoast of it all #you had the absolute perfect setup with the first order as a new uprising of fascism in the wake of the fall of the empire #the alt-right parallels were very clear. the focus on disaffected young men taking up the banner of an evil fallen empire #in the form of kylo was all right there. the narrative of losing loved ones to hate and conspiracy. AND THEN RIAN FUCKING JOHNSON #*takes a few deep breaths*#i don't hate rian johnson i think he's a very competent filmmaker. but he should never have done star wars bc i simply do not think #he UNDERSTANDS star wars #i think he wanted to come in and have some fun with a lot of the hallmarks of star wars. he wanted to deconstruct #(he wanted what kotor2 has and failed miserably tbqh)#and in so doing completely lost the thread of what these movies are about #and then TRoS was just a fucking mess of trying to tie things up #like im certainly not saying i think jj would have made a wonderful perfect trilogy if he'd been given the whole thing but i DO #think it would have been more coherent than what we got #like they could have given it to anybody just give it to someone who fuckin gets it #anyway i love u space grandpa even though i hate you space grandpa and im glad you were always an anti-fascist

ngl with the christmas romcom tomgreg fic i'm writing i feel like i'm seriously cooking as far as original stories go. like i COULD be crafting a script for the best gay christmas romcom of our time and instead i'm confining it to tom and greg <3

#the only gay christmas romcoms i can even recommend in good conscience are #the family stone (very good - features a gay couple but doesn't center them)#dashing in december. which is essentially a gay hallmark movie without actually being hallmark #and single all the way which is kinda just okay but really sweet. and there's jennifer coolidge #i've watched a few others that are total ass #there's one called make the yuletide gay that has an original soundtrack that's pretty good. but is SO low budget #and is frankly just super bizarre. if you're down to watch a movie you KNOW is bad i'd say go for it #i did put one of the songs from that movie in the soundtrack for my first tomgreg christmas fic #the original songs are kinda the best part tho #anyway unfortunately most gay christmas movies are the most uninspired cringe low budget shit #oh wait letters to satan clause features a gay character/romantic subplot that i do find fun #i'd recommend that. tho it's inherently very silly
